How to Eat Healthy While Travelling (Indian & Global)
You can enjoy your holiday without undoing months of progress. The key is preparation, sensible defaults, and knowing which battles to skip.

Airport food that works
Boiled eggs, greek yogurt, roasted chana, cheese cubes, dark chocolate, sandwiches with grilled protein, and a portion of nuts. Skip: samosas, deep-fried pakoras, sugary flavoured lattes, and sandwich triangles with mayo. Pack your own snack for flights over three hours — most airline food is refined and calorie-dense.
Hotel breakfast strategy
Fill half your plate with fruits, salad and eggs. One-quarter with protein — sausages, boiled eggs, paneer, curd. One-quarter with complex carb — oats, upma or a small piece of toast. Skip breakfast pastries, sugary cereals with fruit juice, and bacon in excess. This one meal sets the tone for your whole travel day.
Dinner and buffet strategy
Fill half your plate with salad or vegetables first. Add protein — grilled meat, paneer or dal — as a solid quarter. Add carbs deliberately — roti, rice or bread — in a small portion. Skip cream soups, deep-fried appetizers, sugary desserts (or share one). Enjoy local specialities without guilt at one meal per day.
Movement while travelling
Aim for 8,000 to 10,000 steps daily just by walking sights. Do a 15-minute bodyweight circuit in your hotel room three times during the trip. Take stairs instead of elevators. Prioritise sleep over late partying. These habits alone protect body composition even with looser eating.
